School Day & Opening Hours
Here, you’ll find essential details about the structure of the school day, including start and finish times and break periods. We also provide information about the school’s opening hours, so you can plan your visit or contact with the school.
Our core operational hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.00pm (excluding any Period 6 Post 16 teaching or after school activities) which totals 32.5 hours per week.

- Monday to Thursday: 8am - 4pm
- Friday: 8am - 3.30pm
Changes to our school day effective September 2026
We have reviewed the timings of our school day, comparing to others locally and nationally. Whilst the start and end times of our day will not change from September (08:25 arrival for an 08:30 start, and 15:00 end), the timings of lessons, tutor time, lunch and break will be reorganised. This will bring us more in line with the traditional shape of the school day, starting with a 30-minute tutor time, whilst retaining the separate Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4/5 lunch times. The length of break (25 minutes) and lunch (35 minutes) will remain the same.
We hope that having tutor time at the start of the day will help further develop students’ relationship with their tutor and ensure all students feel welcomed, cared for and prepared at the start of each.
For Key Stage 3, break will be at 11:00 and lunch at 13:25, meaning only one lesson will be in the afternoon (Year 7 lunch will be at 13:10). For Key Stage 4 and 5, break will be at 10:00 and lunch at 12:25. We will review the impact of these changes at Christmas and again in the Summer term to monitor whether the overall effect has been positive..
