Year 10 Work Experience

Students at Winterbourne Academy have the opportunity to participate in an up to a week-long Work Experience placement as part of their ongoing careers education and preparation for the world of work.

Y10 Parent/Carer Work Experience Information Pack 

We encourage all students in Year 10 to take part in work experience and the program is launched to students at the end of Year 9, which allows all students ample time to secure a placement. The Careers Team provides support via tutor sessions to help, advise and encourage all students to take part.

We use a program called Unifrog to record all placements, which allows the student to follow the progress of the placement and receive feedback at the end. Check out these useful links for more info:

The benefits of work experience for students:

• Gain skills from researching and organising their placement.
• Personal experience of the demands of being an employee.
• Improves understanding of the employer’s sector of industry.
• Improves awareness of routes into careers.
• Develops key employability skills.
• Improves confidence and independence.
• Helps learning to be applied in the wider community and helps further progression.
• Contributes towards academic achievement.

When to go:

We allocate a week towards the end of the academic year for all students to be out in the work place experiencing the ‘world of work’.
