Welcome to all Year 7 students joining us in September 2025!
Welcome to Winterbourne Academy, we are really proud that you have chosen us as the secondary school for your child. Moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting and significant event. It is an important milestone which, we understand for many of you will feel like a big step, but we will be here to support both parents and students throughout the transition.
We are lucky to have a school full of caring and dedicated staff, who will support your child as they begin their journey with us. Successful transition depends on a range of things such as creating the right environment where students feel safe and secure, to supporting students in developing positive relationships quickly within their tutor groups and with their teachers, and for us as a school, to successfully work in partnership with parents and carers.

SEND transition
If you have a Year 6 child with SEND and are concerned regarding their transition process, please get in touch (enquiries@winterbourneacademy.org.uk). Our usual transition process includes:
- Virtual tours
- Transition Information Evening
- Deputy SENCO contacting the primary school SENCO
- Key worker contact every other week, starting in Term 5; the key worker will be putting together the learning profile for staff circulation, using parental input alongside primary school information.
