Year 9 Options Evening - Thursday 29th January 2026

FOR CURRENT YEAR 9 PARENTS AND STUDENTS ONLY:

Year 9 students are about to start an important stage of their education journey as, over the next few months, they will be making some choices about which subjects they’d like to continue to study through to the end of Year 11.

A link to our Y9 Options booklet will be published here as soon as it is ready.

We will be launching the options process to our Year 9 students and their parents at our Options Evening on the Thursday 29^th January where there will be a presentation outlining the process and students / parents will be able to speak individually to subject leaders about what each course entails. All students will also be issued with a copy of the Options Booklet which contains further details of the courses available to them as well as the process itself.

We would strongly suggest that your child attends the event with you, however, if this is not possible, some of the information will be covered in PSHE lessons and assemblies. You are welcome to arrive on 29^th January at any time between 5:00pm – 7:00pm and will be able to speak to subject leaders – no appointments are necessary. To hear about the options process please book onto one of the scheduled talks which will take place at 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

Over the next few months, there will be a range of activities which should help students through the decision making process, including PSHEE lessons, assemblies, ‘taster lessons’ and parents’ evening.

The timeline is as follows:

 

Thursday 29th January 5:00pm – 7:00pm	Options Evening.  The opportunity to find out more about the options process and to speak individually to subject leaders about the courses on offer.
Thursday 29th January – Friday 13th March	Taster Lessons. Teachers will provide ‘taster lessons’ to give students a flavour of what a subject will be like if taken at KS4
Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th February	Y9 Parents’ Evening.  This is the chance to discuss your child’s progress in subjects.
Friday 20th March	Choices submitted. Students must have submitted their choices by 20th March.
Week of Monday 27th April	You will receive confirmation of the choices your child has made.
Week of Monday 6th July	You will receive final confirmation of the courses your child will be studying in September.
