STEM opportunity for Year 8 students

Please read the message below about an exciting opportunity for Yr8 students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Students from Winterbourne have participated for the last two years and have had a positive experience.

Places are limited and normally very popular and will be on a first come, first served basis. I will need signed copies of the sign up sheet and the photo consent sheet shown below.

Please note: as a parent\Carer, you will need to provide transport for your child to and from Atkins in Aztec West for the dates and times shown on the sign up sheet attached.

Due to the success from the previous two years, the YES programme will be returning to Atkins, Bristol at the start of 2020.

YES! is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) programme for students to learn about different careers in STEM. Students will come to Atkins once a month for 2 hours, to experience a different STEM career through fun experiments and challenges. Sessions will be led by Atkins’ STEM Ambassadors and other enthusiastic volunteers.

Please can you circulate the information regarding the YES programme, and provide us with eight willing year 8 students. Please accept the first four girls and first four boys who respond. This is regardless of academic ability or disability, as we'd like to attract anyone who has a passion for STEM subjects and want to expand their awareness of STEM careers.

This programme is completely free for students. They do not need to bring anything with them to the programme other than their interest and enthusiasm!
