459 Bus Service - revised route from 06/11/18
Unfortunately, despite our best intentions, the 459 morning bus service was held up in traffic in Bromley Heath today (5th November 2018). This resulted in students arriving at school at 8.40am, and for this we sincerely apologise. Please be assured that any student travelling to school on this bus will not receive a late sanction.
I have spoken to the bus company about how best to avoid such delays in future. Because they were concerned that the Quakers Road/Bromley Heath Road junction is regularly gridlocked, we have decided to revert back to the old route in Bromley Heath. Therefore with effect from tomorrow, Tuesday 6th November 2018, the 459 will once again drive down Oakdale Road (collecting students at the bottom), turn up into Quakers Road (rather than down) and turn right into Fouracre Road. It will then travel along Badminton Road (stopping at the Shell Garage) before turning left and picking up the bus lane on the A4174 and heading towards the Hambrook Lights.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLLECTION TIMES ARE SLIGHTLY EARLIER THAN IN TERM 1 SO PLEASE CHECK THE ATTACHED REVISED TIMETABLE
The 459 route home will remain as per the new timetable (ie. turning off onto the Bromley Heath roundabout and turning into Quakers Road).
We have reports that the 458, which ran along the A4174 this morning, found this new route to be much better than travelling along Down Road, and all students arrived at school in good time.
Once again, please accept our apologies for changing the route after just one day, we do hope you understand our reasons for this making this decision.
